La otra mitad es la interfaz entre la cabecilla y la llanta. Durante el montaje, la cabeza de la cabecilla no siempre encaja perfectamente a ras contra la superficie interna de carbono de la llanta. Se engancha en microimperfecciones del laminado de carbono o en los orificios perforados en \u00e1ngulo. Al pasar por un bache, el impacto radial obliga a la cabecilla a deslizarse hasta su posici\u00f3n definitiva y permanente. La cabecilla desciende, el radio se afloja y la rueda se descentra. Se pierde rigidez lateral. Son incre\u00edblemente r\u00edgidos, ligeros y presentan una elongaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1cticamente nula bajo cargas normales de conducci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Los radios de carbono ofrecen una relaci\u00f3n resistencia a la tracci\u00f3n-peso sin igual. Hacen que las ruedas sean incre\u00edblemente sensibles. Sin embargo, su m\u00f3dulo de elasticidad extremo implica que no admiten ning\u00fan margen de error en el montaje. Si un radio de carbono se monta con tan solo una fracci\u00f3n de grado de torsi\u00f3n, las tensiones de cizallamiento internas son enormes. El radio tiende a enderezarse con mucha m\u00e1s violencia que el de acero. Si la cabecilla no est\u00e1 perfectamente alineada con el \u00e1ngulo de salida del taladro de la llanta, el radio de carbono sufrir\u00e1 un momento flector en la interfaz con la cabecilla. Este es un punto de fallo catastr\u00f3fico para los materiales compuestos.<\/p>\n<p>Para comprender c\u00f3mo interact\u00faan estas fuerzas en condiciones din\u00e1micas de conducci\u00f3n, debemos fijarnos en el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S187770581000938X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mec\u00e1nica estructural de las ruedas de bicicleta<\/a>. Una rueda es una estructura pretensada. Su resistencia proviene de la tensi\u00f3n uniforme de sus radios. Cuando te sientas en la bicicleta, los radios de la parte inferior de la rueda pierden tensi\u00f3n. Si esos radios est\u00e1n retorcidos, la p\u00e9rdida de tensi\u00f3n desencadena al instante el proceso de enderezamiento. Estos m\u00e9todos funcionaban bien con las ruedas de acero de 32 radios montadas en llantas pesadas de aluminio. Sin embargo, resultan totalmente inadecuados para las modernas ruedas de carbono.<\/p>\n<p>Las manos humanas no pueden generar las fuerzas necesarias para asentar un radio de carbono de alta tensi\u00f3n. Un apret\u00f3n manual puede aplicar entre 20 y 30 kilogramos de fuerza. Esto es una gota en el oc\u00e9ano. No basta para superar la fricci\u00f3n est\u00e1tica entre una base de niple reforzada con carbono y un niple de aleaci\u00f3n sometido a una tensi\u00f3n radial de 120 kgf. Empujar una llanta con el peso corporal es un m\u00e9todo poco preciso. No se puede controlar el \u00e1ngulo de la carga. No se puede garantizar que cada radio reciba exactamente el mismo alivio.
