Il emmagasine de l\u2019\u00e9nergie potentielle. Lorsque le monteur de roues cesse de tourner la cl\u00e9, cette \u00e9nergie reste emprisonn\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur du rayon. Si la roue n\u2019a pas subi de d\u00e9tente en usine, cette \u00e9nergie reste bloqu\u00e9e jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que vous l\u2019utilisiez. Le poids de votre corps, combin\u00e9 aux forces lat\u00e9rales en virage, d\u00e9charge momentan\u00e9ment les rayons inf\u00e9rieurs. Lorsque vous passez sur une bosse, l\u2019impact radial force l\u2019\u00e9crou \u00e0 glisser jusqu\u2019\u00e0 son emplacement d\u00e9finitif. L\u2019\u00e9crou s\u2019enfonce, le rayon se d\u00e9tend et votre roue se d\u00e9forme. Vous perdez en rigidit\u00e9 lat\u00e9rale. Ils sont incroyablement rigides, l\u00e9gers et ne pr\u00e9sentent pratiquement aucun allongement sous des charges normales de conduite.<\/p>\n<p>Les rayons en carbone offrent un rapport r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la traction\/poids in\u00e9gal\u00e9. Ils conf\u00e8rent aux roues une r\u00e9activit\u00e9 incroyable. Cependant, leur module de traction extr\u00eamement \u00e9lev\u00e9 signifie qu\u2019ils ne tol\u00e8rent absolument aucun d\u00e9faut de montage. Si un rayon en carbone est mont\u00e9 avec ne serait-ce qu\u2019une fraction de degr\u00e9 de torsion, les contraintes de cisaillement internes sont \u00e9normes. Le rayon tend \u00e0 se d\u00e9tordre avec bien plus de violence que l\u2019acier. Ces m\u00e9thodes fonctionnaient tr\u00e8s bien pour les roues en acier \u00e0 32 rayons mont\u00e9es sur des jantes en aluminium lourdes. Elles sont toutefois totalement inadapt\u00e9es aux roues modernes en carbone.<\/p>\n<p>Les mains humaines ne peuvent pas g\u00e9n\u00e9rer les forces n\u00e9cessaires pour serrer correctement un rayon en carbone soumis \u00e0 une forte tension. Une pression manuelle peut exercer une force de 20 \u00e0 30 kilogrammes. C'est une goutte d'eau dans l'oc\u00e9an. Cela ne suffit pas \u00e0 surmonter le frottement statique entre un lit de nipple renforc\u00e9 en carbone et un nipple en alliage soumis \u00e0 une tension radiale de 120 kgf.
